Learn to Skate at BIP

The mission of the Basic Skills Program is to provide a goal-oriented program that encourages ice skating at all levels and to enhance the quality of skating skills at these levels. The objectives of the program are:

  • To provide a fun and safe skating experience for the beginner as well as the more advanced skater
  • To teach correct technique of the simple basic elements
  • To promote health and physical fitness
  • To enable all participants to achieve the skills necessary to either skate for fun the rest of their lives or to move competently into the US Figure Skating advanced test and/or competitive structure, or play hockey.

Bolton Ice Palace offers a comprehensive, Learn to Skate Program (Basic 1-8), a Bridge Program for skaters that passed LTS wishing to ‘bridge’ to privates (Freeskate and Artistry in Motion), a Tots Program (Snowplow Sam 1-3), and an Adult/Teen Program (Basic 1-8 and Freeskate).

Bolton Ice Palace also offers a skating class designed for Homeschool Families. Classes focus on the fundamentals of learning how to ice skate (physical fitness) supplemented with learning that extends outside the traditional classroom (basic laws of physics, imagery, movement, rhythm, and music). This exploration of learning uses the human body as the subject and ice as the medium.

All sessions are 8 weeks unless specified and there are no make-ups or refunds.
