About Community Christian School
 Community Christian School is the result of a prayerful group of ordinary people called by God to offer families another choice to educate their children.
CCS is a proud member of National Association of University Model Schools (NAUMS) and is the first University Model School in New England. University Model Schooling takes the best of public, private and home-schooling and provides a unique model of educating children that puts Character Development at the forefront yet strives for academic excellence. CCS opened its doors in the Fall of 2005. We offer grades one through nine and will add at least one grade per year.
Although new to New England, University Model Schooling has been around for over 13 years and is gaining a lot of momentum and acceptance throughout the country. It is our desire to offer another option to parents who are concerned about their children’s character development as well as academics without forfeiting that role to anyone else.
National Association of University Model Schools
University-Model Schooling (UMS) was developed as a result of two guiding concerns: to offer students the opportunity to acquire a high degree of academic achievement and to preserve and strengthen the God ordained family relationships in which the Christian faith is most effectively fostered. The structure, in which these two concerns are brought together, University-Model Schooling, provides an academically challenging education while integrating the home and school in the common goal of discipling children.
The key to the success of UMS is the integration of a biblically based, parentally guided, Christian faith and a sound, teacher-facilitated, academic environment, The Bible gives parents authority and responsibility for raising their children with the goal of becoming disciples of Jesus Christ. In matters of education, that parental authority and responsibility, although not surrendered, may be shared with an educational institution when the parents consider it desirable or necessary. In such cases, a University-Model school will assist, and not supplant, parents in their work of training and educating their children.
Parents will retain the oversight of their children’s educational progress and will determine the manner and extent to which they will be involved in the academic institution. Parents will help place each child in the proper stage of academic progress. Parents will also be involved in the out-of-class instructional responsibilities of their children’s courses based upon each child’s age and stage of academic development. In addition, parents will continue to build into their children those character qualities that reflect their own understanding of the Christian faith.
The University-Model School, on the other hand, will operate under the umbrella of parental authority by offering a challenging academic curriculum in the context of Christian values. The school will unapologetically speak and teach in a manner consistent with the school’s statement of faith, emphasizing the necessity of a personal relationship with Christ and growth in Christ-like character. The school will also help parents properly place each of their children in an appropriate stage of academic development. In addition, the school will develop and implement academically challenging, college preparatory courses that integrate an appropriate level of parental involvement into each student’s out-of-class study. The school will encourage and expect the student to learn the material assigned and will provide regular feedback to both the student and parents concerning the student’s progress in each class enrolled. Finally, the school will integrate the Christian faith and a biblical worldview into the context of the various subject areas offered; to the end that Christian character-building will receive support and enhancement outside the home. University-Model Schooling is designed for those families in which parents take an active role in the oversight and implementation of their children’s education. As the level of parental involvement progresses from being a co-teacher in the elementary years to a guide for dependent study in Junior High to more a course monitor in the Senior High courses, parents are expected to continue exercising loving and active responsibility for their children all the way through graduation. In partnership with these committed parents, the school is then able to integrate the home and school effectively toward the common goal of Christian character development and solid academic preparation for college.

Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, only infallible, and authoritative Word of God. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His atoning sacrifice of death through his shed blood on the cross, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory. We believe that for salvation of lost and sinful man, that one must be born again by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling, the Christian is empowered to live a godly life. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the saved unto the resurrection of eternal life and the lost unto the resurrection of eternal damnation. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Community Christian School
 Community Christian School (CCS) has adopted the University-Model School and agrees with its principals and philosophies. The following describes the individual values and teaching philosophy unique to CCS.
At CCS we base our teaching philosophy on three main values which are as follows: Partnership with parents, academic excellence, and Christian (Biblical) worldview. While individually they are important we at CCS believe that, like the church body, they are equally important to the success of this school and must be inclusive.
We provide support to families who desire an excellent education for their children that include God-ordained parental influence and the investment of Godly teachers who are well-equipped in their field of knowledge, all within a community setting that allows children to learn and grow together. The school, family, and students will work together toward Christian character development, and encouraging a deep love for God. Our model is aligned with the “Shepherding a Child’s Heart” philosophy, by Tedd Tripp (required reading for parents and school staff). This support occurs within an environment of mutual respect and dignity where the instruction, course content, and materials reflect our primary goal to produce in students a sound academic base within a Biblical worldview.
Philippians 4:8

We are committed to hiring teachers that have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and that honor each child as uniquely created by God. From this perspective, we seek to encourage each child’s natural curiosity and individual learning style in academic growth as well as development of gifts and talents, strengthening him “to be rooted and built up in Jesus Christ”. We stand on the absolute Truth of God’s Word. Therefore we believe that no subject can be taught in the totality of its truth when the Creator is denied or ignored.
Colossians 2:6-7
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness”.
Deuteronomy 6:7-9
“Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you sit down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols around your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates”.
In order to fully equip students to discern Truth and powerfully influence the world for Christ, our educational process will include opportunities for many points of view to be examined, guiding students to become critical thinkers, clear sighted, and able to apply the Truth of God’s Word in a secular society.
Ephesians 4:14-16
“Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and thereby every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work”.

“In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry”.
